Sri Lanka successfully promoted Ceylon Tea at the National Pavilion of the China–South Asia Expo 2026 held in Kunming, Yunnan Province (11–16 June 2026), with strong focus on Tea Promotion and national branding. The event was organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing in collaboration with the Department of Commerce of Sri Lanka, with the support of the Yunnan Provincial Government-China.
The Sri Lanka participation was led by a high-level delegation including Hon. Mr. Wasantha Samarasinghe, Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Security, and Hon. Arun Premachandra, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, highlighting the national significance of the event.
The Sri Lanka Tea sector represented 10 Sri Lankan tea companies, promoted Ceylon Tea through tasting sessions, regional tea displays, orthodox and handmade teas, attracting strong consumer interest and trade engagement.
The Expo provided valuable exposure for Ceylon Tea in the Chinese market and reinforced Sri Lanka’s position as a premium tea origin.
